The Beach Boys is a locally owned surf school born in Santa Teresa. We grew up in these waves — reading these tides, paddling these reefs, learning from the fishermen who worked this coast long before it was on a map.

The Beach Boys is run by Isaac — a Santa Teresa local who grew up in these waves and built the school around the simple idea that surfing is best shared with friends.

Isaac

Isaac is the founder and head coach — and yes, he actually grew up out here. Surfing before he could drive, fishing with his grandfather for months at sea, and spotting his first surfers from a nearby boat as a kid. That was it. Life plan: changed.

He started the school because friends kept asking, then kept going because sharing the ocean turned out to be the best job in the world. His energy is contagious, his teaching is patient, and he will absolutely lose his mind cheering when you catch your first green wave.

For Isaac, surfing isn't a sport you score — it's a way to plug into nature, culture, and the people around you. He runs it all with a tight crew of local instructors and guides he grew up with. Same waves, same standards, same obsession with making sure every guest leaves stoked.

How we run the school

A few things we won't compromise on.

Small groups, always

1:2 coach-to-guest ratio in the lineup, 1:3 in the whitewater. Retreats capped at 8–12. We'd rather turn people away than dilute the session.

Safety before stoke

Every coach is certified in ocean rescue and first aid / CPR. We match sessions to swell, tide, and your actual level — never bravado.

Real food, real rest

Post-surf pipas from the neighbor's finca. Meals from families we've eaten with for years. No processed retreat catering.

Locally owned, locally spent

100% Tico-run. When you book with The Beach Boys, the money loops back into the town — not a foreign operator's spreadsheet.
