Small groups, always
1:2 coach-to-guest ratio in the lineup, 1:3 in the whitewater. Surf & Stay weeks capped at 10. We'd rather turn people away than dilute the session.

The Beach Boys · Est. Santa Teresa
The Beach Boys is a small, locally owned surf school rooted in Santa Teresa. This is where we learned to read the tides, paddle out at dawn, and understand the rhythm of the coast — lessons passed down by the fishermen who knew these waters long before the town had a name.
We keep things simple: small groups, patient coaching, and enough time in the water to feel progress. No rushing, no forcing it. Just good company, the right spot for the day, and guidance that helps you relax into surfing.
How we surf
Glide, don't grind
Watch a manta pass the lineup at dawn — it covers oceans without a single hard flap. Our coaching runs the same way: timing and trim before power. Waves reward patience.
Move in small groups
Every trip is capped small so nobody's shouting for waves and everybody knows each other's names by day two.
Respect the reef
The Cabo Blanco reserve on our doorstep is one of the reasons this coast is still what it is. We're built to protect that.

Who runs the school
A local in the water. A friend on the shore.
Isaac is the founder and head coach of The Beach Boys — and yes, he actually grew up out here. Surfing before he could drive, fishing with his grandfather for months at sea, and spotting his first surfers from a nearby boat as a kid. That was it. Life plan: changed.
His energy is contagious, his teaching is patient, and he will absolutely lose his mind cheering when you catch your first green wave. For Isaac, surfing isn't a sport you score — it's a way to plug into nature, culture, and the people around you.
He runs the school with a tight crew of local instructors who know these waves inside out and care about making sure every guest leaves happy.

1:2 coach-to-guest ratio in the lineup, 1:3 in the whitewater. Surf & Stay weeks capped at 10. We'd rather turn people away than dilute the session.
We match every session to the swell, the tide and your actual level — never bravado. If the day isn't right for you, we say so and move it.
Post-surf pipas from the neighbor's finca. Meals from families we've eaten with for years. No processed catering, ever.
100% Tico-run. When you book with The Beach Boys, the money loops back into the town — not a foreign operator's spreadsheet.

"Pura Vida."
— Costa Rican for "pure life." A hello, a goodbye, and a quiet promise that today is good.
