From booking to board

How it works

We're a mobile surf school, so we meet you where the waves are. Here's what happens from the moment you book to the moment you walk back from the water grinning.

1. Book & share your location

Reserve your lesson online or by message, then tell us where you're staying — Santa Teresa, Mal País, Playa Hermosa, Cabuya, or nearby.

2. We choose the best spot

We check the swell, tide, wind, and your level each morning, then pick the best break for the day. If conditions point elsewhere, we let you know ahead of time.

3. Beach briefing

On arrival we walk the beach, talk safety, explain currents and etiquette, and fit you with the right board and rash guard. Then we warm up on the sand.

4. In the water

Your coach is in the water with you the whole session, guiding positioning, paddling, and pop-ups. Most beginners catch their first wave within the first hour.

5. Debrief, snack & stoke

After the session we debrief, share fresh fruit and pipas, and hang out on the sand. Total time is about 2 hours from beach meet to goodbye.

What to expect when we arrive

We meet at the beach with boards, leashes, and rash guards for each guest. We'll confirm the spot choice, check the conditions one last time, and make sure everyone is comfortable in the water before heading in. If you're running late, just message us — we're flexible and used to surf-town timing.

No fixed shop, no meeting point confusion. Just show up at the beach we send you, and the whole morning stays relaxed and easy.

Good to know

Surf lesson questions, answered

Levels, what to bring, how long you'll be in the water, and what happens if the Pacific decides to throw you a curveball.

What surf levels do you teach?

+

We focus on beginner to intermediate surfers — first-timers getting their first wave, families, kids, and anyone building confidence in the water. We also guide advanced surfers who want a local eye on the lineup, secret reef access, and someone to read the conditions with them.

What should I bring to a lesson?

+

Sunscreen, a towel, your swimsuit, water, and a good attitude. We provide the board, rash guard, leash, transport to the spot, and post-surf pipas and fruit. If you have your own reef-safe sunscreen and a reusable water bottle, even better.

How long is a surf lesson?

+

Between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, depending on the group, conditions, and how much energy everyone has. That includes the beach briefing, safety chat, warm-up, water time, and a few minutes at the end to debrief, hydrate, and snack on fresh fruit.

What is your cancellation and weather policy?

+

If we need to cancel because of unsafe conditions or flat waves, we'll reschedule you or offer a full refund — your call. For guest cancellations, we ask for at least 24 hours' notice so we can reallocate the coach and board. Shorter notice may not be refundable, but we always try to be fair when the weather changes your plans.

Do you include transport, and what about surfing Cabuya?

+

We meet at the beach for Santa Teresa and Playa Hermosa sessions. If the swell calls for a trip down to Cabuya, we can coordinate transport for an extra $15 per person to cover the extra drive and time.

How we keep you safe

Safety before stoke

Spot selection, daily conditions, equipment checks, and a clear emergency plan — so you can relax and focus on catching waves.

Spot Selection

We choose the beach based on the day's swell, tide, wind, and your level. Santa Teresa and Playa Hermosa are our go-to beginner-friendly beach breaks. If the swell calls for it, we may head to Cabuya (+$15 transport) or other local spots where the waves match the group.

Conditions & Decisions

If conditions are unsafe or flat, we reschedule or refund. We do not run lessons in dangerous surf, lightning, or poor visibility. Coaches make the final call on the beach and always explain the 'why' before anyone gets in the water.

Equipment

Boards, leashes, and rash guards are included and checked before each session. We size boards to your height, weight, and ability. Soft-tops and extra padding are available for kids or anyone who wants extra confidence.

Emergency Procedures

Every coach carries a first-aid kit and is trained in ocean rescue and first aid/CPR. Santa Teresa has 24/7 lifeguard and urgent clinics nearby, plus local GPs for non-urgent care. If something happens, we get you out of the water, assess, and route you to the right care immediately.

Beginners, returners, kids, and lifelong landlubbers — here's what people say after a lesson with our local coaches.

Learned pro tips and gained real confidence

"The Beach Boys were absolutely incredible to work with. Isaac was the best to work with. I learned pro tips and gained confidence to surf on my own. He even got my nervous brother out there for a lesson. Can't wait for more lessons with Isaac."

Progressed with every single session

"Would give 10 stars if it was an option. I'm super beginner but the instruction from Isaac and Sasha was incredibly helpful and helped me progress with each session. Super friendly, fun, great dudes all around. I won't go anywhere else when I come back to Santa Teresa."

Two trips, huge progress each time

"They're amazing. I've surfed with Daniel and Isaac on two trips now. Super patient, great energy, and they adapt classes daily based on the waves and how I felt. I've had both group and private classes and progressed so much on each trip. Would love to go back soon."

From whitewash to green waves with confidence

"AWESOME surf coach. Did a surf camp with him a year ago and came back for a private lesson and all my friends got one too. He's professional, fun, motivating, and taught me a lot about progressing my green wave catching. He took my friends from whitewash to green waves with confidence."
